Sonnet 2 : When Forty Winters Shall Besiege Thy Brow
Introduction:
This sonnet is also a procreation sonnet. The poet here threatens the youth to have a copy of him in order to fill the void when his own beauty declines in old age.
Summary:
The poet threatens the youth to think upon how he will be at his old age. His beauty will completely fade out. He also like other old men will get wrinkles on his skin. Though he is handsome now, it will ceaselessly fade out in course of time.
There's one way out according to the poet. He has to marry and have a son, the exact replica of his own. Thus his beauty becomes immortal and people will be satisfied to have the copy of his own in the future.
